Sherman Alexie is Great.

I just finished reading Sherman Alexie's The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian. For the second time.

The first time, I read it in two sittings, but only because my wife said I really should stop and go to bed. And when I finished it in the morning, I closed the book, opened it again at page one and started over. Granted, it's relatively short. But it's also that good.

It's quirkily funny, sometimes hilarious, sickeningly tragic, unapologetic and unswerving in describing every side of a "can't-win" situation, and at times deeply moving. I felt kind of raw at the end of the first read, but not in the sense of having been manipulated or abused. It just pulled out some feelings that don't get used very often, so they were a bit tender.

So anyway, great book.
