When I first started posting my own comic to the web, I made a point of reading, seeking out, and linking to a lot of other webcomics. But over the long term, I just couldn't keep it going.
Mostly that was because I have a limited amount of non-work time online each day. My wife rules the computer at the house and that's totally cool with me. And at our office, when I'm there I mostly need to be actually working on client jobs.
But to be honest, it's also because I can only read so much online. A single episode at a sitting is fine, but my eyes just rebel when I try to settle in to catch up on a long run, and that's a tragedy because there are some really great comics out there that I just can't seem to get more than a few episodes into.
Which gets me to printed comics; I get SO much more pleasure out of looking at drawings on a piece of paper! But then I get picky again.
I feel like a traitor to the cause, but I just can't bring myself to get a lot of single issues. I just about always wait until there's a trade edition. Now, granted, that might change a bit if there was a comic shop within 250 miles of our tiny town. But when I'm ordering online anyway, a 32-page issue feels like such an unsatisfying amount of story, and then I don't know what to do with it. It gets lost on my book shelf, and I just know I'm never going the long-box route.
I love to read 'em, but I'm no collector.
